REBS chain lubrication SCORPION

Principle

The problem to precisely lubricate the points of working conveyor chains is solved by means of the REBS technology for the Skorpion chain lubricator.

This chain lubricator can be used wherever chain bolts, chain rollers, or carrying casters of conveyor chains must be lubricated with metered shots of lubricant. It is part of our innovative programme of modern and environmentally acceptable lubrication systems for which REBS is known worldwide.

  1. In the rest postion the sledge unit is at the start position, the lubricant cylinder with it's centering device is retracted and the sensor for the chain rollers or bolts is not activated.
  2. At the start of a lubrication cycle the sensor is switched on and triggered by the next chain roller. This causes a working cylinder to operate, coupling the unit to the chain and pulling the sledge parallel to the chain.
  3. A second working cylinder operates, centering the lubrication cylinder to the chain roller. The head of the lubrication cylinder contacts the lubrication nipple and feeds a pre-selected quantity of lubricant into the bearing. Centering the lubrication cylinder seals the head preventing lubricant from leaking out, contaminating the environment.
  4. After completing the lubrication shot the lubrication cylinder returns to it's orginal position and the sledge returns to the start postion. This procedure is repeated until the end of the selected cycle. With the ability to choose every second or thiird point the automatic lubrication can be performed during operation at chain speeds up 1 m/s.

According to reduirements and customer's request grease or oil can be used. Our application engineers will also find appropriate solutions for difficult problems.

System Design

The REBS Skorpion chain lubricator has a modular design. This can be adapted to the requirements of the chain conveyor.

The Skorpion consists of:
  • A central station comprising a lubricant tank, pump, filter, regulator and electronic controls.
  • One or more sledge units for synchronizing the lubricator with the chain.
  • One or more lubricating cylinders equipped with an injector nozzle and valve function as well as the corressponding centering unit.
  • A mounting designed to fit the chain conveyor.
